What the metrics mean

Passengers Carried

The number of passengers transported in the fiscal year. The core volume measure for an airline.

Net Profit Margin

The share of total income that remains as profit after all expenses, including tax. Many public enterprises are capital-intensive and structurally low-margin, so even a single-digit margin can indicate a well-run business.

Health rule set · public-enterprise-2026.1

Profitability

Public enterprises span capital-intensive, structurally low-margin industries; a net margin at or above 8% is treated as strong across the sector, and any loss (margin below zero) moves the indicator to 'watch'. The threshold is deliberately uniform so enterprises are not judged against bespoke, unpublished benchmarks.

Profitability trend

Year-on-year net profit growth below zero (a decline) weighs the indicator toward 'watch'. Where the prior year was a loss, growth is measured against the absolute size of that loss, so a narrowing loss counts as an improvement.
