Largest institutions by published financials
Ranked on one audited metric at a time — total assets, revenue or net profit — across 64 of 65 institutions in this corpus, with equity and income tax alongside. Not a top 100: large private groups publish no financial statements and so cannot appear.
Recognised taxpayers
498 organisations from the Ministry of Revenue's 2017EC (2024/25) loyal-taxpayer register, by award level. The Ministry publishes no tax amounts and orders the list by tier, so it is an honours list rather than a ranking by tax paid.
What is not here, and why
Borrowers. The National Bank of Ethiopia publishes borrower concentration — the top ten borrowers held 12.4% of banking-sector credit at 30 June 2025 — but never borrower identity. No such ranking can be built from public sources.
Exporters and importers. The taxpayer register flags firms selected through the customs channel, but it does not say which direction they trade in and publishes no volumes, so a ranking would be a guess.
