Ethiopian Lottery Service
Overview
Ethiopian Lottery Service is the national lottery operator held by Ethiopian Investment Holdings. Its audited financial statements are filed under the legal name National Lottery Administration, the body re-established as an autonomous federal agency in February 2009 under Council of Ministers Regulation 160/2009; Proclamation No. 1263/2021 later moved its regulatory functions to the Ministry of Revenues and re-established it as a state-owned operator. It sells instant lottery, regular draw, tombola and bingo tickets through commissioned agents, pays prizes out of ticket proceeds, and remits its surplus to the Central Treasury and the Ministry of Finance.
Ticket sales reached ETB 1.11B and other income nearly doubled to ETB 460.87M, taking net income to ETB 873.998M from ETB 546.66M. Profit for the year rose to ETB 564.15M after ETB 309.85M of expenses, and total assets grew to ETB 802.83M with cash and bank balances of ETB 453.77M.
