What the metrics mean

Gross Loan Portfolio

Total outstanding loans to borrowers before provisions. The core scale measure for an MFI.

Portfolio at Risk (PAR>30)

The share of the loan portfolio with payments overdue by more than 30 days. The standard early-warning credit-quality metric in microfinance; above 5% is internationally treated as stressed.

Active Borrowers

Number of clients with an outstanding loan at fiscal year-end. The outreach measure for financial inclusion.

Operational Self-Sufficiency (OSS)

Operating income as a share of operating expenses plus loan-loss provisions. Below 100% the MFI does not cover its own costs.
